Arch Canyon is a 12-mile-long box canyon located north of Trail of the Ancients National Scenic Byway off a dirt road one mile west of Comb Ridge. The canyon, beginning 2.5 miles up the dirt road, harbors beautiful redrock walls, several arches, prehistoric cliff dwellings, and hanging gardens. Access to the mouth of Arch Canyon is on Ute tribal land and is therefore through private property. Arch Canyon is open to motorized vehicles which must remain on designated routes. The canyon offers a good opportunity for jeep, ATV, horse, mule, or llama pack trips.

Although there is no official ADA designation, those with experience in the back country can travel the canyon via horseback, ATV, or jeep.

Pets are not regulated but 100+ degrees Farenheit in summer months and ice falls and below freezing temperature in the winter plus precipitous cliffs and seasonal quicksand preclude safely allowing pets to run free in the canyon.  Care is recommended if traveling with pets.
