Daryl Whitegeese Pottery

Red and black pottery in the traditional Santa Clara style.

By appointment only.   View the artwork and talk to the artist about technique honed by generations of potters.  Coming from a family rich in cultural heritage it is no wonder that Daryl has such talent with his pottery.  Daryl has acquired his knowledge of pottery having worked along side his mother since 2002. His works carry on the traditional forms and designs of the past.

His mother Lu Ann Tafoya is well known for her stone polishing which results in a mirror like finish on her pottery.  Lu Ann who was the recipient of the Southwestern Association for Indian Art Best of Show Award in 2005 is the daughter of Margaret Tafoya (1904-2001),

Margaret  who produced exceptionally large vessels was known as the Matriarch of the Santa Clara Pueblo Potters.  In 1978 and 1979 she was awarded  the Best of Show Award from the Southwestern Association for Indian Art.

Daryl has has received repeated recognition from the Southwestern Association for Indian Art and the Heard Museum Guild for his quality of work.
