El Malpais Information Center is located 23 miles south of Grants, on NM Highway 53. It contains exhibits on natural history, geology, local art work, cultural topics and volcanology, a bookstore and regional information. Picnic tables, water and restrooms are also available here. Special programs are held at the exhibit during the summer months and various hikes and demonstrations also have their starting point at the Information Center. There is also access to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail.
