The Mittens formation in Monument Valley

Established in 1928 by Harry and Leone (Mike) Goulding, Goulding's Trading Post in Monument Valley conducted business with the local Navajo population, who traded their silver jewelry and hand-woven rugs for food and supplies. Goulding's Museum and Trading Post today provide visitors with insights into Monument Valley's rich and colorful history. The original Trading Post exhibits Ancestral Puebloan artifacts, motion picture memorabilia, historical photos, and a Josef Muench exhibit. The Museum is a nonprofit enterprise proceeds from which provide scholarships for local Navajo students. The lodge offers nighly showings of 'Earth Spirit', a film about the valley and its people. Tours are available.

Lodging Style and Amenities

The Lodge has 62 non-smoking rooms, most with private balconies and each with its own spectacular view of the valley. In addition there are eight canyon suites. Nestled in the canyon near the Lodge is Goulding's Camp Park, which also offers panoramic views as well as tent sites, camping cabins, and RV sites with full hook-ups.
