Hotevilla Glassworks is the first and only Hopi owned working glassblowing studio and gallery. In addition to unique Hopi glass artistry by Ramson Lomatewama and others, the gallery features traditional Hopi katsina dolls, Third Mesa basketry, Hopi jewelry, and other local arts and crafts. Visitors who stop by will have the opportunity to watch and visit with local artists as they work. Not only do the artists produce their work onsite, they enjoy sharing their artistic vision and knowledge of the Hopi culture from which it springs with visitors.

Ramson, who is the first Hopi glassblower, is also a traditional katsina doll carver, silver worker, published poet, and lecturer. Ramson offers a variety of special workshops and programs about Hopi arts and culture for college, museum, and other groups visiting Hopi. Ramson's wife Jessica, a third mesa style basket maker, also provides meals for groups from two to twenty plus featuring traditional Hopi foods grown locally. For special programs or meals, please contact Ramson or Jessica well in advance of your planned visit.

Hotevilla Glassworks is located one quarter mile off of Highway 264. Look for the "Hotevilla Glassworks" sign near milepost 368 on Highway 264. Follow the dirt road for a 45 second drive through scenic orange sandstone and juniper trees to the studio and gallery. This is a passenger car friendly dirt road but only at slow speed. If you can't find us, give us a call from the highway and we'll come and get you.

Dr. Richard R. Guzman, Prof. of English, Director - Master of Arts in Liberal St wrote on February 09, 2011: Ramsom Lomatewama's art career has been one of constant searching and innovation. His glasswork blazes another trail, showing how Hopi tradition can be expressed in a medium not traditionally Hopi. It's beautiful work that renews and casts a revealing light on Hopi culture.
