Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site
This historic trading post in Ganado, Arizona remains in business today, much the way as it was when built in 1878 by John Lorenzo Hubbell, only ten years after the Navajos returned to their homeland from the historic "Long Walk" to Ft. Sumner. Hubbell family members operated the trading post until it was sold to the National Park Service in 1965. The trading post continues to offer a variety of Native arts and crafts, along with a grocery and supply store still used by the community, and the farm with rare Navajo-churro sheep that will make you think you've gone back in time 100 years! Visit this historic trading post and experience it as it has remained for over 100 years, on your way to attractions on the Navajo Nation such as Canyon DeChelly, Monument Valley, or the Hopi Pueblos. The trading post is located on Highway 264 in Ganando, Arizona - a scenic 30 minute drive west from Window Rock, over a ponderosa pine forest plateau.
