Name of Person: Karen McCurtain-Blair

Karen landed in Taos, New Mexico in the 1980’s after living in Central and South America and the Caribbean for l2 years. She now lives in the tiny village of Costilla, in the foothills of Northern New Mexico. Her art continues to be influenced by the local culture and her love of the land. She paints what is framed in an open door, the view outside her window, a walk along the acequia or down her dirt road. Karen has exhibited in the U.S. and abroad and her work is found in private collections internationally.

Karen paints transparent watercolors. Much of her subjects are the spectacular landscapes found in this part of the United States now.
