Name of Person: Lynn Kircher, Sculptor

Lynn and Jane Kircher work out of several renovated buildings in Jaroso, Colorado, dating to the days when railroad plans envisioned a track from the San Luis Valley to Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico. 

Lynn Kircher – Sculpture

Lynn is one of the more seasoned and versatile artists in the Valley.   Sculptor, painter and teacher of art at schools and workshops throughout the country since 1979, his work is found in a wide range of collections.  In 2002, Lynn traveled to Rome, Italy where he presented the bronze torso At Peace to His Holiness John Paul II in a ceremony at the Vatican. Emotional realism in bronze is rendered in a strong style.  Lynn combines both secular and religious themes, and his work includes life drawings, petroglyphs, acrylics and monoprints.

Jane Kircher – Fused & Slumped glass

Jane transfers strong design skills and a lifelong interest in lighting into original, evocative and humorous fused glass sculptures.   A background in electrical design with a specialty in lighting, gave her the impetus to create her “light chimes”.  Jane understands that of all light,  natural light is the best, and how it plays in interior spaces provides visual delight.  She loves to bend it through the prisms of fused and slumped glass.  Each object, whether intended as a window display or as a three dimensional object, plays with light and color and is experimentally crafted out of scrap glass and found objects.   Jane works in Jaroso, in the studio space she shares with husband, Lynn.

Kircher Studio has maintained a presence in Jaroso, Colorado since 1986.

Kircher studios is a full time studio and employs local craftsmen and studio assistants.

Lynn has been a member of the Costilla County District R-1 Board of Education for over 6 years. Both Lynn and Jane support educational endeavors, and their local Studio Tour, held every year the week end after labor day, has been a regional draw since 1998. Jane has been a member of the Costilla County Planning Commission for over 10 years. Both Lynn and Jane believe in community service.
