Navajo Lake State Park covers over 21,000 acres of land. Navajo Lake, the second largest lake in New Mexico, covers more than 15,000 acres of water surface offering every type of water sport and service imaginable.

The marina stays busy year round with boat rentals, floating pontoons, a grocery store, picnic areas and a ranger station. The beaches near the marina are busy year-round. Areas less visited can be reached by a 20 minutes walk north along the shoreline.

The 150 miles of shoreline are quite scenic. The expanse of blue water, small sandy beaches separated by vertical cliffs of whitish limestone with rocky slopes and hillsides covered with pinon and juniper creates a truly unique and picturesque atmosphere! The beaches are nice and have clean, soft sand, colorful pebbles and no mud.

The terrain and vegetation vary from shoreline to the river, attracting a variety of wildlife. The San Juan River area, just below the dam, is world renowned for excellent trout fishing YEAR-ROUND.

Navajo Lake provides excellent fishing year-round for trout, salmon, bass, northern pike, catfish, and crappie. Boating, sailing, scuba diving, and water skiing are popular water sports at Navajo Lake. Hiking, walking, hunting, camping, picnicking, and wildlife observations are also popular. Navajo Lake is a unique State Park because of the geological and archaeological viewing.
