Notah Dineh Trading Company opened in 1961 on North Broadway in Cortez, Colorado. In 1993 we moved to our new west Main Street gallery. The gallery features the largest collection of Navajo rugs in the Four Corners, especially "Two Grey Hills" and "Ganado Red." Classical and other traditional Native American weavings are also available.

Notah Dineh specializes in unique Native American art including  hand-carved wooden kachinas, sandpaintings, cradle boards, moccasins, beadwork, sculpture, beaded baskets, original artwork, and 14K and sterling silver jewelry. Notah Dineh also has an outstanding collection of Pueblo pottery, along with Ute and Navajo pottery, from the tiniest collectable miniatures to the outstanding detailed showpieces of today’s master potters. Notah Dineh is committed to preserving the honor and tradition established through over 50 years of dealing one-on-one with American Indian artists. We believe the quality and pride of craftsmanship is apparent in every item offered for purchase.

The Notah Dineh Museum features an extensive display of historic American Indian art and artifacts. Antique cradle boards, beaded toys, ceremonial gloves and moccasins, tomahawks, breastplates, pottery, fetishes, woven baskets, kachinas from the 1920s and 1930s, and antique Navajo rugs provide a glimpse into Native American life. Relics of the Old West in the exhibit include antique bits and bridles, beaded leatherwear, fringed dresses and leggings, and historic firearms.

The largest known Two Grey Hills weaving is showcased in the museum. The Two Grey Hill's rug became known for its all-natural wool colors blended to various shades of tan, gray, brown, black, and white. Because of the extra time and effort to produce the finely woven and intricately designed Two Grey Hills rugs, they are generally smaller in size and more suited to wall use. A 5-foot by ' 7-foot would be considered large. One exception to the rule is a 12-foot by 18-foot weaving from the Two Grey Hills area that was started in 1957. Willard Leighton, who owned the Two Grey Hills trading post at this time, contracted Rachel Curley to create what would be the largest Two Grey Hills rug ever woven. This magnificent 12-foot by 18-foot Two Grey Hills weaving (the three year creation by Navajo weaver Rachel Curley) is on permanent display at Notah Dineh Trading Company in Cortez, Colorado. The museum is free to the public.
