Name of Person: Jolton LaFore, Artist

Introduction

Artist's name is Jolton LaFore or Jolt.  I offer a variety of stained-glass art pieces and show my work exclusively at the Wildcat's Den Restaurant. Seems a little out of place to display my work in a restaurant, but it works for me because I help out around the restaurant and I can manage my pieces with little effort. Plus the large windows are a plus to show my work. I do have stones on display as well.

My prices are quite affordable. In fact, my pieces are priced a lot lower then they were when I had my stained-glass business in East Texas. Currently, I create and work on glass as a hobby and I will take a custom order, here and there.

So pop on in and see my work. I can usually be reached at the Wildcat's Den 575-586-1119.

Full Explanation

I started playing with stained-glass, with a friend, back in 1997 and soon developed a love for it. The next logical step was to set up a place to sell it. Glass Gardens  was created in February 2000.  Fortunately, it was a hit from the start.

I frantically beefed up my inventory with all sizes of stained-glass windows and began working with the combination of cement and glass. These creations were a wonderful and refreshing new look and I was the only one in East Texas who provided ths type of work. I specialized in stepping stones, benches and whole bench and table sets. Memorial benches became a huge hit. They were a lot more affordable than head stones or cemetary markers and I could personalize them anyway the customer wanted. Soon, custom orders were taking about 90% of my time and I found it hard to keep my inventory in stock or on display in my showroom, but I always managed to have new and interesting pieces on display.

Before I began working with stained-glass, I worked toward and accomplished a degree in Horticulture. Gardening and messing around in the yard has always been a first love for me. Because of my love of gardening I had a fondness for garden pieces and used to think gazing balls were the hit of the garden. However, I have created some awesome garden pieces out of stained-glass and soon replaced most of my gazing balls with decorative garden stakes, address stones, stepping stones, tree rings, gutter splash guards and bench and table sets.

My move to New Mexico in the winter of 2007 took some getting used to but I have developed a love for the crisp fresh air, the endless views, the awesome people and the snow! Currently, my pieces represent my love of New Mexico.

The New Mexico sun shines endlessly and it works so beautifully with my glass pieces. Although my work space has been downsized somewhat; I still find many opportunities to work on suncatchers, windows and ornamental table-top seasonal pieces, as well as custom orders.

Hope you enjoy my photos and hope to see y'all.
