The Bliss Café is, like Crestone itself, eclectic. Their card describes the restaurant as having "organic, yummy food," and as a "farm store, café, deli and gift shop." Talk about diversification!  Local artists display their work on the walls and tables adding to the colorful, eclectic atmosphere.  There is almost always a table or two of friends discussing everything from politics to art to the weather, and often they'll invite you to join them. It is a happening place.

You can dine on such delicacies as yak burritos, blackened tilapia fillets with fresh pico de gallo and a yummy secret sauce, organic salads, and raw food entrees, or you can just sit and sip a cup of freshly brewed cappuccino while you browse the web on your laptop. They have several flavors of Boulder Ice Cream, which is just about the yummiest you've ever tasted, and their deserts are to 'live for.' You can also enjoy champagne, wine or beer with your meals, which are fresh, delicious and reasonably priced.

Their cooler is stocked with fresh organic produce, locally grown when in season, and other healthy, fun foods such as hand made raw chocolates. Their gift items are handcrafted by local artists and crafters, and they have an interesting selection of foodstuffs that are exotic and hard to find.

Proprietors Scot Swordy and Ava Lowe are almost always present, working the cash register, cooking, serving and cleaning. Scot, who also makes short documentaries on many subjects but particularly on life, love, green employment and raw foods, is very involved in creating local, sustainable community, which is reflected on his website, www.lifeandlove.tv. Ava is also a body worker and author.  They are as diversified and eclectic as their café. A trip to Crestone wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Bliss Café.
